Nidec Open Enrollment: 2027 Benefits
2027 Open Enrollment is Nov. 2–16, 2026
At Nidec, we offer our employees a competitive and comprehensive benefits program. This is one of many ways we recognize how important you are to the company. The following information briefly summarizes our program in a quick and easy-to-understand way. It also provides you with what your next steps are to make informed decisions about your benefits for 2027.
What’s Changing for 2027
CHP deductibles are increasing to align with IRS guidelines as follows:
- In-Network Individual deductible from $3,400 to $3,500
- In-Network Family deductible from $6,800 to $7,000
- Out-of-Network Individual deductible from $6,800 to $7,000
- Out-of-Network Family deductible from $13,600 to $14,000
Medical Plan Employee Contributions
Medical Plan employee contributions will increase.
Health Savings Account (HSA)*
Maximum amounts are increasing to $4,500 for individuals and $9,000 for families.
*Note: You are eligible to open and contribute to a Nidec HSA if you are enrolled in the Nidec CHP.
2027 Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)
- Health Care FSA: The IRS has not yet released 2027 Health Care FSA maximum limits.
Currently, the maximum amount you can contribute is $3,400. Visit irs.gov for the most current information. - Dependent Care FSA: The IRS has not yet released 2027 Dependent Care FSA maximum limits. Currently, the maximum amounts are $7,500 for married filing jointly, single or head of household OR $3,750 if married and filing separately. Visit irs.gov for the most current information.
401(k) Contributions
If you make $150,000+ in FICA wages in 2026, catch-up contributions in 2027 must be made to a Roth source.
Life and Disability
During this year’s Open Enrollment period, eligible employees may elect voluntary life insurance coverage up to the guaranteed issue amount without providing Evidence of Insurability (EOI).
Accident Insurance, Critical Illness Insurance and Hospital Indemnity Insurance
For 2027, our new carrier will be Voya. The benefit plans and rates will stay largely the same. These plans pay a benefit directly to you when you experience certain injuries occurring off the job, or if you are diagnosed with a critical illness, or if you or your covered dependents are admitted to the hospital for a covered stay.
Since we are moving to Voya for our Voluntary Benefits coverage, you must reenroll in these benefits during Open Enrollment to have them next year. Your current elections will not carry over.
Identity Theft – New!
The new Nidec voluntary Identity Theft plan provides digital safety and identity theft protection services to employees who choose to enroll in the plan. This plan can help prevent, detect and resolve identity fraud.
To enroll on/after January 1, 2027, please visit the Aura portal at offer.aura.com/nidecmotorcorpvol.
Paid Parental Bonding Time Off – A Reminder
As a reminder, Nidec provides one week of paid parental bonding time off at 100% pay for employees welcoming a child through birth, adoption or foster placement. This benefit is administered by The Hartford.
You can find more information on the Life and Disability Insurance webpage at Life and Disability Insurance | Nidec Total Rewards.
Opportunities to Enroll
New Hire Enrollment
As a new employee, you are eligible for coverage on your first day of employment. You must enroll in benefits within 30 days of your date of hire.
Open Enrollment
Open Enrollment is your opportunity to review your current benefits and make benefit changes for the upcoming plan year. During Open Enrollment, you can add, change or decline coverage. In addition, you can add and/or drop dependents during this time. Keep in mind that any dependent you add will need to go through a dependent audit verification process.
Qualified Life Event
Once you make your elections, you will not be able to make changes until the next Open Enrollment period unless you experience a Qualified Life Event. A Qualified Life Event (QLE) is a change in your personal life that may impact your eligibility or dependent’s eligibility for benefits. Examples of some qualified events include the following.
- Change of legal marital status (e.g., marriage, divorce, death of spouse, legal separation)
- Change in number of dependents (e.g., birth, adoption, death of dependent, ineligibility due to age)
- Change in employment or job status (loss of other coverage or other coverage offered)
Working Spouse Coverage
If your spouse works full time and is offered benefits at his or her own employer, your spouse must elect coverage through that employer. If your spouse later loses eligibility under his or her employer’s plan, this is considered a qualified event, and he or she would be eligible to enroll in the Nidec Plan as long as an application is made within 30 days of the loss of coverage.
Benefits Eligibility
Eligible Employees
You may enroll in the benefits program if you are a regular full-time employee who is actively working a minimum of 30 hours per week.
Eligible Dependents
Eligible dependents generally include your legally married spouse and children up to age 26. Children may include natural, adopted, stepchildren or children obtained through court-appointed legal guardianship.
Social Security Number (SSN) Required
You must provide a valid SSN for yourself and each enrolled dependent. Employers are required to provide names and SSNs to the federal government for each individual enrolled for medical coverage. Please ensure SSNs are correct when entering them for yourself and dependents.
Benefits Resources
Refer to your 2027 Benefits At-A-Glance for details about your benefits options for 2027.
What You Need to Do
- Review the 2027 plan options listed in your At-A-Glance brochure.
- Review the resources listed below to help you make decisions.
- Log in to Workday during the open enrollment period from Nov. 2–16, 2026.
- Enroll and submit your 2027 benefits elections by the Nov. 16 deadline.
- Remember—you will not have another opportunity to change benefits unless you experience a Qualified Life Event.
- Make sure your contact and beneficiary information is up to date.
- Confirm your Open Enrollment changes by reviewing your elections via your Open Enrollment window available to you in your Workday inbox and clicking “I Agree” and “Submit“ on the last summary screen.
- Important last step: Save a copy of your confirmed benefits elections for 2027 so you have them for future reference.
What Happens if You Don’t Enroll
This year’s enrollment is a passive enrollment. This means if you do nothing, you will be automatically reenrolled in the coverage choices you had in 2026 for medical, dental, vision, life and disability benefits. However, if you wish to contribute to either a Health Savings Account (HSA), Health Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA), or a Dependent Care FSA in 2027, you will need to make those elections during the Open Enrollment period. These accounts do not roll over.
